Pop Tabs and Hotel-size Shampoos and Lotions

Please continue to save your pop tops and hotel shampoo/lotions throughout the year.
The pop tops go to help the Ronald McDonald House and the shampoos are given to the
Youth Emergency Service, for the youth on the streets. These are two easy,
ongoing projects that help two agencies we have worked with several times in the past.
You can bring these items to any Giving Circle meeting or contact
Cathy Pasko.

GIVING CIRCLE UPCOMING EVENTS:

August – AnySoldier.com

The AnySoldier.com project has been very successful the past three years. Last fall, we
sent 19 boxes to Nebraska soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Donations will be collected during August and sent to units with soldiers from Nebraska.
Items on the wish lists generally include things like DVD movies, stocking caps, stress
balls, lip balm, toothbrushes, beef jerky, candy canes, gum, cough drops, breath mints,
sunflower seeds, tissues, pens and pencils, notebooks, tea bags, microwavable food,
cookies, candy (no chocolate), hot chocolate mix, tea bags, powdered drink mixes like
Gatorade or Crystal Light, etc. We’ll also collect used cell phones, with the proceeds
from the phones going to purchase prepaid calling cards for American troops. Donations
of cash to pay for shipping the boxes also are needed.

September - Bingo at Immanuel Courtyard

September 27th is the date for a fun afternoon of bingo for residents of Immanuel
Courtyard located at 6757 Newport Avenue, from 1 to 3 p.m. This facility provides senior
housing and services designed for individuals on a fixed income. The community is age
and income

restricted and all residents need to financially qualify based on government program
guidelines.

NNL will be hosting the bingo festivities and providing dessert afterwards. We need
volunteers to help with the activity, make desserts or provide bingo prizes in the $5 - $8
range. The residents like to decorate their apartment doors with seasonal themes, so
banners and posters are welcome, as well as any item appropriate for a senior resident.
Joan Vinke is chairing this charitable function. Please call her at 779-0493 to volunteer
your services.
